VOSHA Founder Jim Rogers to be Inducted into AAHA Hall of Fame

PHOENIX, AZ – The Valley of the Sun Hockey Association (VOSHA) is deeply honored to celebrate the upcoming induction of its founder, the late Jim Rogers, into the inaugural Arizona Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA) Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Mullett Arena in Tempe.

Jim Rogers joins a historic "Class of 2026" featuring Arizona hockey trailblazers such as Auston Matthews and Zac Larraza. The evening will be a double celebration for the VOSHA community, as the 2004-2005 VOSHA Mustangs 14 & Under team is also being inducted to honor their historic run as the 2005 USA Hockey Tier II National Champions.

"To see my father’s name listed alongside the true pioneers of Arizona hockey is an incredible honor for our family," said Justin Rogers, Coach-in-Chief and Director of VOSHA, and Jim’s son. "It is especially meaningful to see him inducted alongside the 2005 Mustangs. He was serving as Program Director and President when that team brought home the National Championship, and it remains one of the proudest moments in our organization's history. He was always focused on the kids, and having them recognized together is exactly how he would have wanted it."

Founded by Jim with a "player-first" philosophy, VOSHA has served as a cornerstone of the Arizona youth sports community for 40 years. Jim’s tireless dedication to accessibility and growth earned him the respect of the entire hockey world, from local rinks to the NHL.

"Jim Rogers was the heart and soul of youth hockey in Arizona," said Mark Pragliola, President of VOSHA. "He dedicated his life to ensuring that the barriers to entry were lowered so that any child could experience the joy of the game. Whether it was helping a beginner put on skates for the first time or supporting a team on their way to a National Title, Jim’s impact was absolute. We are beyond proud to see his legacy, and the achievements of the 2005 Mustangs, cemented in the Hall of Fame."

The induction ceremony will be held in conjunction with the AHSHA State Championship. The event begins at 6:00 PM, with doors opening at 5:00 PM. Tickets are available through the Mullett Arena box office.
